“[Graduation] really shouldn’t be called a completion ceremony because we haven’t finished anything. We have just begun to transform our lives.”

— Autumn Murray, CSN Student, Artist

College of Southern Nevada Prison Education is dedicated to providing southern Nevada’s incarcerated population with access to college-level credit programming enhancing the student’s knowledge and skills in critical-thinking, problem-solving, and work-readiness.

CSN’s prison education program is inclusive of academic and career-minded coursework for students who are interested in pursuing certificates and degrees from CSN up to the associate degree level.  These programs were selected based upon student feedback, regional workforce needs, and grant eligible programs.  Students participating in CSN’s Prison Education programming receive instruction from a credentialed instructor with the same standard of quality and student expectations.

We are truly excited about the potential for substantial growth in CSN’s prison education programming, given the recent increases in funding to support prison education in NV and the anticipated offering of PELL Grant awards to students through CSN in Fall 2024.  In addition, the educational support “tablet” devices provided by through AB35 this past legislative session will provide students with an abundance of program choices and the academic support services to facilitate student success.  This legislation is game changing for prison education statewide in NV.
